Plot summary: Press the yellow dot, and what happens? Does another dot appear? What would happen if you rub the dot on the left? This high-concept interactive book encourages children to play with their books and with the adult readers, to touch and rub and reach out.
Critical review: The concept of this book is fascinating - it is incredibly simple, with plain lines and dots. Likewise, the phrases throughout are simple. But the idea of it is elegant; rather than relying on technology to interact with, why not interact with a book? Why don’t we encourage children to move around, to touch their books and enjoy the sensory experience of books?
Why include it?
When I first saw this book, I thought - why didn’t I think of that? It’s clever, imaginative, and it encourages children to view books in the same light as the ever colorful tablet.
