Bibliographic information:
Creator: Sesame Street Workshop Apps
- Language: English
Reader's Annotation: Grover is thrilled to be starring in a storybook app - but he’s not at all certain about being in a book with a Monster!
Using a mix of animation, some interactive features (little fingers can tickle Grover until he lets go of the pages!) and voices, this app tells the story of the loveable, furry old monster who definitely doesn’t want to get to the end of the book.

Play summary: When you open up “There’s a Monster at the End of This Book” you meet the joyful Grover, who is excited to be in a book. But as you turn the pages, things get grimmer - Grover will do anything to keep from getting to the end of the book and facing the monster he fears! You, the player, have to tickle him, break down walls, and force him to face the future.
Critical review:
This digital recreation of the Golden Book classic: “There’s a Monster at the End of this Book” maintains the integrity of the original story, and augments it with a combination of voice actors, some animation and some interaction. This app is one of the best individual story apps out there, seamlessly integrating the technology into the telling.
Why include it?
For the three to four crowd, the storybook app just isn’t as appealing as other apps which allow you to do more - or as paper books which are a very sensory experience. However, the 4 to 6 age group will find a great deal of delight in thwarting all of Grover’s plans to save us from the Monster at the End of the Book.
